Sabine Winter makes history at WTT Champions Montpellier

With her silver medal at the WTT Champions Montpellier, 33-year-old German top player Sabine Winter achieved a historic breakthrough: as the first European woman ever to reach the final of this tournament category, she narrowly lost to China’s Wang Yidi 3–4 (8-11, 10-12, 11-5, 11-4, 6-11, 12-10, 11-9) after a thrilling duel — even holding a match point of her own.

New career milestone – World Ranking No. 16

Thanks to her outstanding run in Montpellier - including impressive wins over strong opponents such as Doo Hoi Kem and Shin Yubin - Sabine Winter climbed ten places in the world rankings to reach No. 16.

It’s been incredible to share this journey with you for the past ten years and to see your hard work pay off. We’re proud to be part of your story - congratulations, Sabine!
