Ouaiche and Konecny brighten up the ITTF World Tour

09_2016

On 28th August Tomas Konecny accomplishes his first ITTF World Tour win in Bulgaria.
On 4th September Stéphane Ouaiche nearly follows him in the Czech Republic's ITTF World Tour Event, but has to give in to the Japanese Yuto Muramatsu in the finals.

andro Pro Team member Tomas Konecny has won the 2016 Bulgaria Open in superior style. The reigning Czech Champion made it through to the final where he defeated Quentin Robinot of France in four straight sets.
Right after the final we sent our best wishes to Tomas and we took the chance to ask him a few questions:

Tomas, congratulations on your success in Bulgaria! Can you please describe your feelings after this successful weekend?

I still can not believe what happened, it is an amazing feeling. For sure it is the biggest achievement in my career so far.

How did you experience the Bulgaria Open: Did you feel at any stage of the tournament that this could be a special event for you? When did you realize for the first time that there is a real chance for you to win this event?

It was my first tournament in new season. After summer preparation it is not easy to get into the rhythm of a real match. So actually I just wanted to reach and explore my maximum at every match. Finally every round my touch for the ball became better and better. And in the final I saw a huge chance for me because I won my last two matches against Robinot.

How does it feel to be mentioned in the history books now as the first player from Czech Republic to win a title at the ITTF World Tour series?

I heard about this a few hours after the tournament. I did not know that I am the first but it is an honor to me. Maybe I need some more time to fully understand the meaning of this success.

And finally: What are your goals for the season 2016/2017?

In this season we have European and World Championships in Singles. So my goal is to play the best possible result at these events. And also with my team in the Polish League I would like to reach the highest possible position.

Thanks, Tomas!

And here the highlights of both both finals (Czech & Bulgarian Open):
